NEWSFLASH – May 2006
HOT JOBS
We are looking for any qualified tradesmen. If you are looking for a job in Australia now please forward your cv/resume to us on fran@tmra.com.au. You will need to have your passport, trade papers, employment references and other documentation organised and ready for a speedy departure. In some instances you will also require an Australian skills assessment. For detail on skills assessments contact skills@visasolutions.com.au for further details.
EMPLOY WHMs FOR UP TO 6 MONTHS!
From July 2006, working holiday makers (WHM) will be able to work for the same employer for six months instead of three months. They will also be eligible to apply for a second working holiday maker visa if they spend three months employed in a wider range of primary industries, including livestock and fishing. Remember that working holiday makers are restricted by length of time with the employer and not salary or occupation. If you have any queries regarding this change you can email ian@visasolutions.com.au.
PRE-ARRIVAL BANK ACCOUNTS
Through our established relationship with the Commonwealth Bank, our clients are able to have bank accounts opened for sc457 visa holders prior to their arrival in Australia. This means that the candidates can transfer money into their Aussie bank account and have cash available to them on arrival. For further information on this service contact Dan at dan@visasolutions.com.au.
NEED UNSKILLED WORKERS?
Any temporary visa to Australia which has work permission is likely to have some form of work restriction. Generally it is the number of hours that can be worked, the length of time with one employer or restrictions on the occupation which may be filled. Many employers seeking to fill unskilled positions should consider student visa holders or working holiday makers. For more information on work rights for visa holders contact dan@visasolutions.com.au.
YOU’RE NICKED!
Australian Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs Amanda Vanstone welcomed moves by the SA Government to recruit up to 70 more UK police officers. The move follows two successful UK recruitment drives that have attracted more than 180 UK officers to South Australia. Most of the recruits were employed under the Australian Government’s Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme.
BUSINESSES FOR SALE
We are regularly approached by a range of business owners across all industries seeking business partners or investors from offshore. If you know people who are looking for businesses or are a prospective business migrant, we have vendors that are willing to sell. Contact Lidia on lidia@visasolutions.com.au.
CANBERRA JOINS STNI SCHEME
The ACT is the most recent participant in State Territory Nominated Independent visa scheme. STNI visa applicants need to be less than 45 years of age, have vocational-level English, post-secondary qualifications (or equivalent work experience) and the relevant state/territory must deem their skills to be in demand. The State or Territory Governments can then nominate the individual for a permanent visa to that region. For further information contact Ian@visasolutions.com.au for more detail.
READ THE LABEL?
Citizens of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait can now obtain visas to travel to Australia without the need to have a label placed in their passports. Citizens of these five countries may apply for a tourist visa over the Internet. Tourist visas may be valid up to 12 months with multiple entry depending on the applicant’s circumstances. For further information contact Ian@visasolutions.com.au for more detail.
WORKERS FROM OVERSEAS GET A PAY RISE!
The Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs has announced higher threshold salaries for skilled occupations on the Employer Nominated Sponsorship list. The new minimum salary is $41,850 plus Superannuation or for specialist IT occupations it is $57,300 p.a. (plus Superannuation). Where an applicant is earning more than $165,000 p.a. plus Superannuation, then no skills assessment will be required under the Employer Nominated Scheme. These increases are in line with the recent rise in the threshold salary for sc457 visa applicants. For more information contact Dan@visasolutions.com.au.
WHAT’S REGIONAL?
The Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs has determined that for certain visa applications, the following post codes in Western Australia (Except Perth and surrounding areas) are regional: 6041 to 6044; 6083 to 6084; 6121 to 6126; and 6200 to 6799. Under certain visa categories, employers in regional areas can employ less-skilled workers from offshore and at a lower pay rate compared to the metropolitan area. Contact Lidia@visasolutions.com.au for more details.
